The Red Devils Poised to Secure Germany Striker Lea Schüller away from Bayern Munich
The Women's Super League club are on the verge of sealing the deal for prolific Germany striker Lea Schüller in a permanent move from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
A Major Signing for the WSL Side
Schüller, who has half a year left on her contract, is known as a prolific goal-getter for her club and the national team. She has netted over 100 goals for the German giants and scored 54 times in 82 appearances for Germany. Her arrival will be seen as a major coup for the WSL team.
Her exit from Munich was expected after she was seen fighting back tears while thanking the German club’s supporters following a victory over Bayer Leverkusen recently.
It was reported in late December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was losing one of its top forwards. Per multiple sources, the formalities for the move are now finalised.
Consistent Goal Threat to Boost United's Attack
The 28-year-old’s signing is expected to provide a significant uplift to United’s forward line. She has been highly consistent in front of goal in Germany’s top flight.
- For seven straight seasons, including the last term, she reached at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
- She won the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with 16 goals.
Gathering Steam at Carrington
Securing the German international comes at a time when United appear to be gathering momentum.
Their recent performances include securing a place in the European knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a victory in the Conti Cup quarter-finals.

- The signing of Sweden defender Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
- The contract extension for Japan midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, a popular figure since joining in 2023.
Regarding the midfielder's extension, a senior figure stated: “Miyazawa is now a critical component to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and skill enables her and the team to control and dictate play from the middle of the park.”
Lundkvist, who has arrived from a side from the NWSL, added: “You can sense how much the club have grown in the last few years, playing in one of the strongest leagues in the world and now featuring in the top European competition.”
